It was later at his company’s Dallas Radio station where Weaver’s responsibilities included handling a local advertising client that became a central figure in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The client ran the Infamous Carousel Club, a popular ‘strip’ club frequented by a diverse clientele of media stars, policemen, oilmen, and well-known businessmen, some of whom were subpoenaed by the Warren Commission. The Carousel was operated by Jack Ruby.
First Lieutenant Bill Weaver served in combat during World War II in the U.S. Army for six and a half years. He was awarded six ‘Battle Stars” and the Bronze Star for “Heroic Achievement” in combat, serving under Gen. George Patton in N. Africa & in Germany and France under General Mark Clark. After returning home, Weaver graduated “Magna Cum Laude” from the Univ. of Texas before beginning his 38 year career in the radio industry.

In the mid 60s, he traveled to New York to personally convince Beatle’s manager Brian Epstein to alter their 1965 US tour to include a show in Houston, Tx, where he was Manager of KILT Radio at the time. Under his watch, KILT became the #1 station in Houston, a dominance that lasted well over a decade. In 2003,he was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.
Weaver spent over ten years researching the Kennedy assassination, convinced that there were too many unanswered questions remaining after the findings of the rapidly concluded Warren Commission report.
Weaver was born in Hutchinson, Kansas. He passed away shortly after completing TRIPLE DOUBLE CROSS on February 17th, 2008 and was buried with military honors in San Antonio, Texas. |
